The Historic Liberty Theater is pleased to welcome back Chris Jones & the Night Drivers this Saturday February 2, with local phenom Beth Davis opening up, at 8pm. Doors open at 7:30pm and admission is $15 at the door for adults. Children and groundhogs¹ get in for free!
Groundhog Day is appropriate for this concert, since this is the third straight February Chris Jones & the Night Drivers have blessed us with their marvelous bluegrass – a tradition we hope to maintain long into the future. They are currently riding high with their bluegrass chart hit Who You Want Me To Be (#2 in the country this month!).
Chris Jones formed the Night Drivers in 1995 and has been honored repeatedly as a performer, songwriter, and DJ (as a host on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction). Local resident Mark Stoffel, a Night Driver nigh on 12 years, provides the fleet-fingered mandolin accoutrements, while bassist Jon Weisberger provides the bottom and banjo player Gina Clowes picks with the best of them.
Meanwhile, Carbondale native Beth Davis has already racked up many awards (including at least seven state fiddle championships, according to The Southern) at the age of 14 – please come and support the local talent!
We hope to see you at the Liberty Theater!
¹ – Yes! Dress as a groundhog and you get free admission!
